Charenee Wade is a 2010 Thelonious Monk Competition finalist.  Charenee is from Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of Manhattan School of Music and was selected for the Dianne Reeves Young Artist workshop at Carnegie Hall. She was the 2006 first runner-up in the Jazzmobile vocal competition, and has performed/recorded with Rufus Reid, Bobby Sanabria, Oran Etkin, Robert Glasper, and choreographer Kyle Abraham, among others. She is currently a Professor at Aaron Copland School at Queens College and an Instructor at Jazzmobile. Her 2016 release Offering: The Music of Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson (Motema) is her second record release. More at www.chareneewade.com.

Monk-in-Motion 2017

Presenting 3 prominent Thelonious Monk Competition finalists.  Tribeca PAC’s 2017 series will focus on three Monk Competition finalists who have achieved success beyond the competition. Also performing is pianist Orrin Evans (1999 finalist) on Feb. 4 and trombonist David Gibson (2003 finalist) on March 4th.
