AMP Trio Featuring Tahira Clayton @ BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts center | New York | New York | United States

AMP Trio featuring Tahira Clayton is poised to reach new heights after being named the winner of the 2017 DCJazzPrix and earning an invitation to the 2018 DC Jazz Festival. Their most recent record, Three, was highlighted by a Japanese tour that included a cultural exchange workshop sponsored by the US Consulate of Sapporo.

AMP Trio first brought vocalist Tahira Clayton into the fold with their 2015 release m(y)our world, including an in-studio video series directed by Snarky Puppy’s visual mastermind, Andy LaViolette. m(y)our world received international airplay, reaching #24 on the JazzWeek Charts. Alongside Clayton, AMP Trio has performed at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival in Rockville, MD, Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, MI, the Kitchen Café in Dallas, TX and New York venues including the Cell Theatre, Rockwood Music Hall and Shapeshifter Lab. They have conducted educational clinics at schools throughout the US and Canada.

Comprised of pianist Addison Frei, drummer Matt Young, and bassist Perrin Grace, AMP Trio formed in 2011 at the prestigious University of North Texas Jazz Program. Their first release, Flow, (Armored Records) was followed by performances at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival and the Velvet Note. AMP Trio has participated in Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute and Betty Carter Jazz Ahead. Together they have performed with artists including Tim Green, Quamon Fowler and John Raymond and have recorded with Aaron Hedenstrom, Adam Hutcheson and Spenser Liszt.

Each member also leads thriving solo careers, spanning international touring, recording and competitions. Watch, listen and find out more at amptrio.com
