David Gibson is a 2003 Thelonious Monk Competition finalist. David is a native of Oklahoma, and has performed with Slide Hampton, Jon Faddis, Roy Hargrove, Jimmy Heath, James Moody, and Orrin Evans (our Feb 4 performer). David teaches at the New School University, and Columbia University, and has made seven recordings as a leader; his latest is Inner Agent, his fourth for the Poly-tone label. David’s combo on March 4 includes Freddie Hendrix – trumpet, Theo Hill – piano, Alexander Claffy – string bass, and Kush Abadey – drums. More at www.jazzbone.org.

Presenting 3 prominent Thelonious Monk Competition finalists. Tribeca PAC’s 2017 series will focus on three Monk Competition finalists who have achieved success beyond the competition. Also performing is pianist Orrin Evans (1999 finalist) on Feb. 4 and vocalist Charenee Wade (2010 finalist) on Feb. 18th.
