About TANEC

TANEC – National Folklore Ensemble of North Macedonia, warmly regarded as cultural ambassadors of their country, is bringing a colorful and captivating spectacle to North America in May 2022. As part of an eight-city USA and Canada tour, this national ensemble will treat you to an array of high-energy dances telling the ancient stories of Macedonia and the Balkans. Your eyes, ears and soul will experience a journey through time, with a mesmerizing display of passionate music and dance. More than 40 performers, including a 10-piece orchestra of traditional Macedonian folk music, a choir, singers and more than 20 dancers will take you on a cultural journey like no other.

TANEC is a unique ‘mobile museum’ featuring the most beautiful, precious and ancient Macedonian costumes, with unique colourful embroidery, that represent t he core of Macedonian identity. Founded in Skopje in 1949, its mission was to research, artistically interpret, and present on stage the rich traditions of Macedonian music and dance.

New Entrance Information

Patrons will be entering through our temporary entrance – the West Street Gate – between Chambers Street and Harrison Street. Go to 190 West St., New York, NY 10013, and walk 50 feet north to the West Street Gate Entrance.  Do not enter at our usual address on 199 Chambers; Please go around the corner to West Street.

Box Office:

As of now, the box office is not open for visits and the phone-line is only taking messages. Tickets for events may be purchased online.  The box office will only be open on the day of events and will be located in the temporary entrance area through the West St. Gate. 

Covid Policy

Masks will be required to be worn within the courtyard, lobby areas and entire theater facility at all times.  Masks may be surgical, KN95 or N95 or double layer cloth masks. Scarves, single layer cloth masks, and neck gaiters are not accepted. Children under 2 years old do not have to wear masks.
