WAACKING is a fiery and expressive dance that began in the early 1970’s heavily influenced by the funk and disco era in the disco clubs of Los Angeles. The style originally played on imitating silent film stars’ over-dramatic gestures by utilizing complex arm movements, lines, and poses.  This free class will start with a general body warm up and then will focused on the different elements that compose waacking: foundations, grove, pose, character, musicality.

Michela Deidda aka “Miki Tuesday” is a Dancer, Teacher, Artistic Director and Choreographer. Miki Tuesday was born and raised in Italy, where she first started dancing. After experiencing different dance styles she fell in love with street dance at the age of 17, when she started training in Hip Hop and House dance. She graduated from the “Cruisin Hip Hop School” in Italy in 2000. In 2010 she moved to New York City to study at the renowned Peridance Capezio Center where she discovered herself in Waacking, which ultimately became her main style of dance.  In New York City, her career path led to performing at The Fringe Festival, Nolita Film Festival, Sybarite, Carnival, Ladies of Hip Hop Festival, Summer Stage and many more.  In 2016 Miki Tuesday Founded “International Affair”, a Dance Company based in New York City, that does primarily Waacking.  International Affair performed at Tribeca PAC this past May.
